Where your R350 goes

Most projects hide their costs. We think showing them is the whole point. Here is every rand of a single tree sponsorship, including the part that keeps us alive.

About that last line

The R89 runs the website, monitors every tree, covers failures beyond our replant guarantee, and — yes — earns a margin. African Fruit Fight is a social enterprise, not a charity, and we believe the honest version of "doing good" includes being able to keep doing it. The margin is what plants next month's trees.

Is African Fruit Fight a charity?

No — and we say so proudly. This project is run by Wouter Kirstein (Pty) Ltd, a registered South African company. When you sponsor a tree you're purchasing a service: a tree acquired, planted, and kept alive, with proof delivered to you. That's also the name you'll see at checkout and on your statement.

What if my tree dies?

We replant it. Young trees fail at a known rate, so a replacement guarantee is priced into every tree — you can see it as its own line above. Every planting is then published on our trees.
